C Level Design Acquires Transmodeling

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 8, 2001-- C Level Design, Inc., a leading provider of C/C++ design and verification solutions, today announced that it has acquired Transmodeling, Inc. (Portland, Ore.) and is expanding engineering by opening up an R&D facility in Beaverton, OR.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

``The acquisition of Transmodeling helps us bolster our market leadership position in C/C++ design technology,'' said Daniel Skilken, president and CEO of C Level Design. ``The acquisition is significant for two reasons. First, Transmodeling has already developed significant simulation support for mixed language simulation of C++, HDL, and SystemC through its SystemModeler environment. This will be extremely important as C Level moves towards its next phase of technical and strategic growth. Second, Transmodeling's Portland development center enables us to expand our operations into the incredibly rich talent pool that is available in the Pacific Northwest. The technical expertise and experience of Transmodeling will be extremely valuable as C Level continues to expand its C/C++ design and verification offerings.''

``Merging Transmodeling with C Level Design will accelerate the adoption of C/C++ design and simulation tools into the mainstream of hardware design,'' said Steve Westfall, president and CEO of Transmodeling. ``Mainstream customers want to use C/C++, but need to have a more complete solution before they can adopt it. The combined strengths of C Level Design's C/C++ synthesis and Transmodeling's simulation offerings will enable us to provide that solution faster than we could do it independently.''

TransModeling, Inc. was founded in November 1998 to provide C/C++ design and simulation tools for the EDA marketplace. In March 2000, the company announced SystemModeler, the EDA industry's first design environment for the support of the SystemC language. SystemModeler provides an HDL-like environment to create and debug native ANSI C++ designs and supports co-simulation between C++ or SystemC and VHDL or Verilog in a distributed simulation environment. C Level Design will be integrating the SystemModeler technology into their current and future products.

About C Level Design
